We have now launched the official Zorin PC website. It is now reachable at www.zorinpc.com and we are now taking pre-orders of the Zorin PC on the Store page on our new site. The pre-orders are currently at a promotional price of €449 excluding shipping. The pre-orders will be shipped when the Zorin PC will be fully released in June 2011. The new site also has all the details, specifications and pictures of the Zorin PC.

The website looks good - however ...
I notice the price is in Euros - at my calculation this works out at £399 - £155 more than what I paid for the HP Mini210 I am writing this comment on and it lasts 5 hours plus! I appreciate that launching a brand new product can incur a RRP overhead more than what would normally be expected but I think it is too high unless you are in the right socio-economic group (which I am not!) PS been promoting it over the Kindle but critics have said that as an e-book reader it will not be as good as Kindle because of LCD screen - I don't know about this so would appreciate contributions from others in the know.

Thank you very much for your feedback. We just wanted to clarify that our first rotatable touchscreen tablet PC differs from ordinary netbooks and is designed for a specific market niche. There are other Linux computers available for general use covering inexpensive and high spec computers and we do not need to compete with them. We are currently targeting users who need a multifunctional portable lightweight tablet PC for business, study and other purposes. Zorin PC is specifically designed for easy electronic note taking and drawing which can be handy for use on the go, on site and in classroom environments where normal typing is more difficult or inpractical. We believe that the current specs of the Zorin PC are well suited for this purpose. We decided to upgrade the battery to six cell to improve the battery life. This change will not affect our current price. We are selling the Zorin PC (dual boot) for EUR449 plus shipping as we are based in Ireland. We are still finalizing the price for single boot Zorin PCs which will be announced soon. According to our market research this price is very competitive in the Euro zone as the cheapest rotatable touchscreen tablet PC that we could find on the market was priced at EUR441 with 1gb ram and Windows 7 starter. The Zorin PC comes with 2gb ram and Windows 7 Ultimate plus Zorin OS Premium software. Unfortunately the current unfavorable EUR/£ and EUR/$ exchange rate makes the Zorin PC more expensive in the US and British markets although the equivalent touchscreen tablet PC that we could find was priced at $629 in America and £380 in the UK. In future we are planning to increase the range of our products including high spec computers. In relation to e-reading, the Zorin PC uses a TFT screen and our reading tests showed very good results.

Best Regards,
The Zorin PC/OS Team

Dear Zorin PC/OS Team [/Zorink]

Thanks for your response - I agree it is good value for money overall - just wish I had waited! Ah well, look forward to seeing what the Zorin only tablet will be like - I appreciate the current model has higher spec in respect of memory, touch screen and all and thanks for the feedback on the screen for e-reading. Will post a link on the other 'general computer' forum I contribute to. May I wish you every success in your ventures - you have filled the gap that Linspire/Freespire can no longer meet!

Warmest regards,
swarfendor437

PS If I could just win the Lottery!
