I have recently installed Zorin 4 alongside an existing Xandros OS. I can't open the Xandros now, but I'm not too worried about that as the Zorin works fine.
There's just one problem - no sound on speakers (I've tried two sets) or headphones. I have worked through the 'Sound Troubleshooting Steps' on the Ubuntu site - as far as I could understand them anyway. The system recognised the soundcard as: **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: VT1708S Analog [VT1708S Analog] Subdevices: 2/2 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 Subdevice #1: subdevice #1 card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: VT1708S Digital [VT1708S Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 The soundcard was also recognised by the hardware. It's not muted, and I've tried moving the sliders in alsamixer. I can't get the slider for headphones to show any gain, but everything else seems to be working OK. Sadly my technical knowledge is pretty limited, and I'm not sure what to do from here. Please can anyone give me a fairly simple explanation of what I need to do to solve this problem? |
